Omar Mahmood was born and raised in Southern California. He completed his undergraduate studies in Psychobiology and Arabic. He then traveled overseas to study traditional Islamic Sciences at Dar al-Mustafa, in the Yemeni valley of Hadramawt. His studies focused on jurisprudence, Arabic grammar, and sciences of the heart. After returning to the States, he completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and is currently employed as a neuropsychologist. He serves as a national advisor for MYNA (Muslim Youth of North America) and is a Board Member of Access California Services (a non-profit social services agency assisting Arab and Muslim communities in southern California).
